Our Process
Not everyone gets listed. Here is what it takes.
Detailed application
Experience, specialties, who they work with, and how they approach working with first-time founders.
Nonprofit client references
We contact at least two. We ask how the consultant worked with their nonprofit in its earliest stages, whether guidance was clear and actionable, and whether they delivered on what they promised.
Screening conversation
A conversation with our team to confirm fit, values, and a genuine commitment to founder-first service.

No. The Build Order on our Start Here page walks you through every step you can handle yourself. The directory exists for the moments when you want expert help, not as a prerequisite.

Consultants pay a monthly listing fee to be included. That fee covers visibility, not placement. Every consultant, paying or not, goes through the same three-step screening process. We will never list someone who has not been screened, regardless of what they pay.

Email us at team@buildforimpact.co. We take every report seriously and will follow up directly with the consultant. If a pattern emerges, we remove the listing.

Founding consultants are the first professionals listed in the directory. They joined early, helped shape the screening process, and are recognized for their commitment to the Build for Impact community.

Every consultant completes an application, provides two nonprofit client references, and has a screening conversation with our team. Paying for a listing does not bypass screening.

Each consultant sets their own pricing. Build for Impact does not take a percentage of any work between founders and consultants.

Yes. If a consultant consistently falls short of the standard they were screened for, or if we receive credible founder complaints, we remove them. A listing is not permanent.
