Build for Impact ("we," "us," "our") is a for-profit resource platform that helps first-time nonprofit founders and early-stage Executive Directors build their organizations with confidence. This page explains how our site works, how we make money, and what you can expect from us.
Affiliate Links
Some pages on this site contain affiliate links. When you click one and complete a purchase or sign up for a service, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you.
Our current affiliate partner is Northwest Registered Agent, through the Awin affiliate network. You will find these links on our Start Here page at the incorporation and tax-exempt filing steps.
We will never recommend a service because it pays us a commission. We recommend it because we believe it is a solid option for first-time nonprofit founders. If a better option exists and does not have an affiliate program, we will still recommend it. Affiliate links are always identified near the recommendation itself.
Impact Builders Directory
The Impact Builders Directory connects founders with screened nonprofit consultants. Consultants listed in the directory pay a monthly listing fee for visibility. That fee does not influence screening decisions. Every consultant must pass the same screening process regardless of whether they pay a listing fee.
Build for Impact does not earn a commission or referral fee when a founder hires a listed consultant. We are not a party to any agreement between a founder and a consultant. Any engagement, contract, or payment between a founder and a consultant is between those two parties. We do not guarantee the quality, outcome, or timeliness of any consultant's work.
If you have a concern about a listed consultant, contact us at team@buildforimpact.co. We take feedback seriously and it may affect a consultant's continued listing.
Digital Products
We sell templates and resources through Gumroad. Prices are listed on each product page. There are no hidden fees, automatic renewals, or recurring charges unless clearly stated at the time of purchase. All sales are final unless otherwise noted on the product page.

Everything on this site is educational. Our content, templates, tools, and resources are designed to help you make informed decisions, but they are not a substitute for professional legal, financial, or tax advice.
Nonprofit formation involves state-specific requirements, IRS filings, and governance decisions that vary based on your situation. We strongly encourage you to consult a qualified attorney, accountant, or nonprofit consultant before making legal or financial decisions for your organization.
We make every effort to keep our content accurate and up to date, but laws and regulations change. We are not responsible for errors, omissions, or outdated information on this site.
Privacy and Data
We respect your privacy. Here is what we collect and why.
Email (MailerLite): If you subscribe to our email list, we collect your email address and any information you provide through our signup forms. MailerLite stores this data and tracks open rates and click rates so we can send you relevant content. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link at the bottom of every email.
Analytics (Google Analytics 4): We use GA4 to understand how visitors use our site. GA4 collects anonymized data such as pages visited, time on site, and general location (city-level, not your address). We do not use this data to identify individual visitors.
Forms (Tally): Our directory application and other forms are built with Tally. Tally collects the information you submit and stores it securely. We use this data only for the stated purpose of the form.
Payments (Gumroad, Stripe): When you purchase a digital product, your payment is processed by Gumroad and Stripe. We do not store your credit card information. Gumroad and Stripe handle payment data according to their own privacy policies.
Cookies: When you first visit our site, a cookie banner lets you accept or manage cookie preferences. Our site uses cookies for analytics and basic site functionality through Squarespace. We do not use cookies for advertising or retargeting.
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes. Ever.
Third-Party Links
Our site contains links to external websites and services. We are not responsible for the content, privacy practices, or availability of those sites. A link does not mean we endorse everything on that site.

We may update this page as our business evolves, new tools are added, or regulations change. The "last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
